Book 34: PRANAM & TOTEM

GREAT MOTHER ÇATAL HÖYÜK

-Goddess of Çatal Höyük as found, with additions in plain line. Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, Ankara. c6500 BCE. In the museum she appears intact. The replacement head resembles others from the same period & area. They all look African——I drew this from my photos. She’s made of clay, about a foot tall, in a case all by herself. She’s the icon of Ancient Cities in Turkey. Many headless statues have been found from the Neolithic period. Theories abound as to why they are headless.

Another Midas table
You can’t make this stuff up
Thank you, Museum of Anatolian Civilizations! I’ll be back.

TINA ON TRACK

-Tina – Winter 2017-2018——A very happy teaching experience. Tina and her father Huang came every Saturday for two years and now we are like family. She looks quite grown-up in the picture. She was eight when I drew her. Very, very talented.

KADIR TAKE ONE

-Kadir keeping a straight face – July 2020——A gorgeous student. Kadir from Mardin has the Black & Silver Tattoo Parlor in Cihangir. He’s got dreadlocks to his waist, a wonderful intuitive art sense, and a good attitude. We had a lot of fun with the art lessons.

EKIN WHEN A LAD

-Ekin when only a lad! – 2018——Ekin at 14 was already selling art. A fine graphic ability and animation sense. I’ll bet he winds up creating graphic novels.

YGOR & PINKIE CAMEO

-This book dedicated to my two constant friends, Ygor and Pinkie. Ygor, found screaming in a storm at the edge of a mud slide over a cement drop, 3 weeks old, was our happy little spirit from June 2004 to February 4, 2019. Goodbye little sweetheart. His friend and lover, Pinkie, joined us in August 2004, six months old & crippled and is still here. Without them, oh, I would have been so alone. 7 July 2020—–Uploaded 20 April 2021
