-Uncle Guy in 2013——Everyone should have such an uncle. My role model, family sage and succor, the first real liberal I ever knew and my model for dealing with anger, and graceful aging. He’s still going strong in 2021. I drew this from a photo one night when I was missing him.

-Tim at Soho House [Istanbul] 4 October 2017 with Jerome——Tim’s columns in the New York Times kept us abreast of affairs in the Middle East. Now he’s writing from Los Angeles. A hell of a guy, and much missed.

A much better take on Robert, who built this website and taught me how to maintain it. He’s an inspired teacher, patient beyond belief, and his English students are lucky to get him. As was I. We were in the trenches together for a couple of years, with the tiny computer and the intermittent Internet reception and the ancient old MacHog… things now are much eased.
