RIVER KING MEANDER
River King Meander – Taken from the Baths of Faustina in Miletos to a museum – One sexy old man——I got all excited at the Baths, until I realized I was looking at a copy. This drawing was done from the original.
Big deep breaths- Lake Köycegiz 2 July 2015-—-Pronounced “KOY jee.” Positively pastoral.
HENRY AT THE LAKE
Henry at the lake in the afternoon wind—–
Henry’s garden 5 July 2015—–One fabulous garden, with cat. Ali Cat.
WC IN KOYCEGIZ
A square in Köycegiz / Signs pointing to a world-class WC—–The WC is NOT in the tree! This town is completely off any tourist track, yet they have gone out of their way to make any visitors as comfortable as possible.
EUCALYPTUS TREE LIVE
Köycegiz – That miracle: a tree with all its branches—–This is the first session, drawing the tree from life in the square at Koycegiz. I wasn’t able to finish that day, so I took photos to finish later
Cicadas sawing the thick heat / July 2015—–I limped along for miles, leaning on a stick, through heart-stopping heat to get this drawing. The local bus refused to take me; it was Ramadan, and he was tired; he passed me on the road and refused to stop. This ruined city is on a steep hill. When I climbed panting to the gate, I told the guard there of the bus driver’s rudeness. He called and reported it, and gave me a pass through the gate. The heat was so thick you could chew it, and the cicadas sounded like a chorus of gasping crows. When it was time to leave, I had a free trip all the way to the ruined tombs at the end of the road.
KOUNOS SEA OF REEDS
Kounos, now a sea of reeds—–This ancient gate leads to a path down the hill all the way to the marsh at the bottom. I could barely walk and it was thick heat, with the gasping grate of cicadas, so I didn’t chance it, but drew what I could.
