NEW SKETCHBOOK 2011 - Trici
The Forgotten Cistern ©2011 by Trici Venola. In Los Angeles, a water storage company has a closet in the back. In Istanbul it's a 1500-year-old Byzantine cistern. At the very back of a whitewashes brick edifice used to store water and soda pop, pitted marble columns loom in the gloom. I had to string up a light bulb and sit on shaky boards to draw this, but I got it in one sitting. Under some office buildings in the Old City, and we won't say where, since such things are fragile.
