Inside Rustem Pasha ©2011 by Trici Venola. Rustem Pasha Camii (Mosque) is built high up above the Spice Bazaar, and this window looks out on a narrow passage between high stone walls. Winter and summer, there is always someone hanging out at the corner below, where old men sell used shoes. The carved wood ornamentation, the stone window-seat, the grille are all 500 years old. Only the electric light mounted outside, and the clear window-glass, tell us what century we're in. Frigid inside in winter, the mosque is suitable for prayers but not long drawing sessions. This took several short ones.
